WASHINGTON (AFP) – Isasara ni Barack Obama ang libro ng kanyang panguluhan sa Martes (Miyerkules sa Pilipinas), sa isang farewell speech sa Chicago na susubukang pasayahin ang mga tagasuportang nagulat sa pagkapanalo ni Donald Trump.

Ang huling pagsakay ni Obama sa Air Force One ay magiging pilgrimage sa kanyang adoptive hometown, kung saan magtatalumpati siya sa sell-out crowd, hindi kalayuan kung saan niya tinanggap ang panguluhan walong taon na ang nakalipas.

Makakasama niya sa eroplano si First Lady Michelle Obama, gayundin si Vice President Joe Biden at asawang si Jill Biden.

Sinabi ng lead speechwriter na si Cody Keenan na ang talumpati ay magpopokus sa pangarap ni Obama para sa bansa.

‘’It’s not going to be like an anti-Trump speech, it’s not going to be a red meat, rabble rousing thing, it will be statesman-like but it will also be true to him,’’ ani Keenan sa AFP. ‘’It will tell a story.’’

Ang cross-country na biyahe ni Obama ay hindi lamang magiging sentimental trip down memory lane, ayon kay Keenan.

‘’Chicago is not just his hometown, it’s where his career started,’’ aniya.

‘’The thread that has run though his career from his days as community organizer to the Oval Office is the idea that if you get ordinary people together and get them educated, get them empowered, get them to act on something, that’s when good things happen.”
