Iginiit ni Senator Rissa Hontiveros ang makataong kampanya laban sa ilegal na droga kasunood ng mga survey na walo sa sampung Pilipino ang nababahala sa extra judicial killings at 71 porsiyento ang nagsabing dapat mahuli nang buhay ang mga sangkot sa droga.

“While there is apparent strong public support to the government’s campaign against illegal drugs, the people want it to be based on human rights and rule of law,” sabi ni Hontivereros.

Iginiit niya na kailangan ng tulong ng mga nalulong sa droga. “The Department of Health already said that what the majority of the drug users need are out-patient healthcare interventions. As such, what is needed are out-patient rehabilitation programs, community drop-in centers, and harm reduction capacity-building sessions for local governments, health agencies and non-government organizations,” aniya.
