Sino ang unang bumuto sa overseas absentee voting sa pagsisimula nito noong Sabado?
Mismong si Commissioner Arthur Lim, chairman ng Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Office for Overseas Voting (OFOV), ang unang bumoto sa OAV na isinagawa sa Hong Kong dakong 8:40 ng umaga nitong Sabado, bagamat ang unang post na nagbukas ay sa Wellington, New Zealand.
Sinabi ni Victoria Florido, chief of staff ni Lim, na mas nais ng kanyang boss ang pumila sa halip na gamitin ang express lane na inilaan sa mga senior citizen.
Iginiit ni Florido na matagumpay ang unang araw ng pagsasagawa ng OAV.

“I am very pleased to announce to everybody that the opening of the posts ... was a success,” ayon kay Florido.
“Since the usual day off of our fellow Filipinos abroad is Sunday, we are expecting a larger turnout on Sunday,” sinabi ni Florido nitong Sabado.
Samantala, umaasa si Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista na dadami ang botante sa OAV hanggang sa eleksiyon sa Mayo 9.
“The turnout in 2013 was only 16.11 percent and again this is one of the key performance indicators and key result areas by which we will measure the success of elections. We are hoping to increase the 16 percent turnout,” ayon kay Bautista.
“If you will note in 2013 there were only 737,000 overseas Filipinos who registered and in 2016 we were able to double that to close to 1.4 million,” dagdag ng Comelec chief.
Nagsimula ang botohan sa OAV nitong Abril 9 (8:00 ng umaga, oras sa host country) at magtatagal hanggang Mayo 9 (7:00 ng umaga, oras sa Pilipinas).
Makaboboto lamang ang mga OAV voter sa posisyon ng presidente, bise presidente, mga senador at party-list group.
Samantala, inihayag ni Bautista na bukod sa pagbabawal sa mga botante na ilabas ang voter receipt, hindi rin sila maaaring gumamit ng cell phone habang nasa loob ng polling precinct. - Leslie Ann G. Aquino
