Inihayag ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority na papayagan nitong dumaan ang mga truck sa Roxas Boulevard simula sa Lunes, Pebrero 2.

Nilagdaan ni MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino ang memorandum circular na nagbigay–daan para magamit ng mga truck ang Roxas Boulevard mula 12:00 ng hatinggabi hanggang 5:00 ng umaga.

”This is just temporary, upon the request of Secretary Rene Almendras, head of the Cabinet Cluster on Port Congestion, because of the backlog in the operations of the truckers brought about by the holidays,” ani Tolentino.

Ang bagong scheme ay magiging epektibo sa loob ng dalawang linggo, mula Pebrero 2 hanggang 15.

Noong Disyembre ng nagdaang taon, ipinatupad ng MMDA ang isang bagong truck regulation sa Roxas Blvd. bilang paghahanda sa Pista ng Itim na Nazareno at sa Papal visit.

“I am optimistic that this will somehow contribute to the government’s efforts to decongest the ports,” ani Tolentino.

“Thereafter, Roxas Boulevard will be prepared and rehabilitated by the DPWH in preparation for the APEC Summit slated this year,” dagdag ni Tolentino.

Gayunman, binigyang - diin ng MMDA Chief na ang scheme ay hindi ipatutupad sa umaga ng Pebrero 7 at 14, 2015 dahil maaari itong magpalala sa traffic situation sa weekend.
