Nilinaw ni Department of Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla na walang nilabag na batas si Police Major General Nicolas Torre III matapos masibak bilang hepe ng Philippine National Police (PNP).
Batay sa inisyung memorandum ni Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin noong Lunes, Agosto 25, inatasan si Torre ng proper turnover.
"For the continuous and efficient delivery of public services in the PNP, you are hereby directed to ensure proper turnover of all matters, documents, and information relative to your office," saad sa liham.

Sa isinagawang press conference nitong Martes, Agosto 26, sinabi ni Remulla ang simpleng dahilan ng pagtanggal kay Torre sa katungkulan.
“He did not violate any laws,” sabi ni Remulla. “He has not been charged with any violation. He's not been charged criminally. It is simply a choice of the president to take the redirection for the PNP.”
Gayunman, ayon sa kalihim, kinokonsidera umano si Torre para sa isang bagong posisyon sa pamahalaan.
“The president still believes in his capacity, in his organizational strength, and his vast experience in the service,” ani Remulla.
Samantala, ayon naman kay Senador Ping Lacson, umakto umano si Torre nang lampas sa katungkulan na naging dahilan para maalis ang huli sa puwesto.

Pinalitan naman si Torre ni Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. bilang bagong pinuno ng kapulisan.
