Binasag ng Department of National Defense (DND) ang kumakalat na espekulasyon tungkol sa umano’y Maltese passport ni DND Sec. Gilberto Teodoro.
Sa pahayag na inilabas ni DND Asec. Arsenio R. Andolong nitong Lunes, Hulyo 14, sinabi niyang isinuko na raw ni Teodoro ang Maltese passport nito bago pa man siya maghain ng kandidatura noong 2022 elections.
“The alleged existing Maltese passport of Sec. Gilberto Teodoro was surrendered and renounced prior to the filing of his certificate of candidacy in 2021 for the 2022 elections,” saad ni Andolong.
Dagdag pa niya, “Its existence was disclosed to the Bureau of Immigration and Comelec prior to the 2022 elections, as well as to the Committee on Appointments prior to their confirmation of his appointment as Defense Secretary.”

Ayon kay Andolong, malinaw at batid umano ni Teodoro ang motibo sa likod ng ipinapakalat na espekulasyon.
