Sa isang programa sa radyo nitong Biyernes, ipinaliwanag ni DOH regional TB nurse coordinator Caryl Lapriza, nasa 3,266 na ang tinamaan ng sakit sa rehiyon sa unang tatlong buwan ng 2023.

“In 2022, there were 12,931 TB cases, higher than the 9,171 cases recorded in 2021. Based on our data, it is the 9th cause of death in the region,” ani Lapriza.

Gayunman, walang datos ang DOH regional information office sa bilang ng mga namatay sa sakit.

"Our advice to those manifesting TB symptoms is to seek consultation and complete the treatment for six to 12 months. Treatment is free in our rural health units,” pagbibigay-diin ni Lapriza.

Pinayuhan din ni Lapriza ang mga pasyente na kumpletuhin ang gamutan at kung hindi ay hindi na na tatablan ng gamot ang sakit.

“TB is spread primarily from person to person through infected air during close contact. The bacteria get into the air when someone infected with TB of the lung coughs, sneezes, shouts, or spits,” dagdag pa ni Lapriza.
