Sinabi ng Commission on Elections o Comelec na bubuo ito ng task force na mag-iimbestiga sa mga alegasyon ng vote-buying.
Ayon kay Comelec Commissioner George Erwin Garcia sa isang press conference sa pagtatapos ng end-to-end demonstration ng Election Day Automated Election System (AES) sa Diamond Hotel sa Manila, ang poll body ay gagawa ng isang Task Force na hahawak ng mga ulat at mga reklamo kontra sa alegasyon ng pagbili ng boto.
"The Commission will be creating a Task Force that will handle reports, complaints. Definitely, the Comelec can motu proprio investigate. The Comelec can always direct its field personnel to submit a report to us. We will have a task force for us to immediately take action," ani Garcia.
Gayunpaman, pinaalalahanan ng commissioner ang mga tao na maging maingat sa paggawa ng mga ulat ng pagbili ng boto.

Aniya, "As you know, politicians can always invoke the Peñera doctrine. Technically it’s not yet the start campaign period for local candidates. We will not hesitate to prosecute those who may be involved in vote-buying. We are so serious that for this election it is necessary to equalize everything. We will punish those who will be violating the Omnibus Election Code."
Ang doktrinang Peñera ay tumutukoy sa isang mahalagang desisyon ng Korte Suprema noong 2009 kung saan pinawalang-bisa nito ang pagbabawal sa maagang pangangampanya.
Nangangahulugan ito na ang mga gastos ng mga kandidato bago magsimula ang panahon ng kampanya ay hindi saklaw ng mga alituntunin ng kampanya.
Hinimok naman ni Garcia ang mga nakasaksi sa naturang aktibidad na magsampa ng reklamo.
"Definitely regardless of the personalities involved so long as there is substantial evidence, substantial in character, we will push through with the prosecution of offenders of those who will be guilty of vote-buying," ani Garcia.
