Ipinahayag ni Games and Amusements Board (GAB) Chairman Abraham ‘Baham’ Mitra na ilulunsad ang kauna-unahang professional chess tournament sa bansa sa binuong Professional Chess Association of the Philippines.

“Sa sports ng chess proven na for the longest time na hindi nahuhuli ang Pinoy. Our chess players are among the best in the world. Napapanahon na magkaroon ng professional sa kanilang hanay,” pahayag ni Mitra.
