MATAPOS kumpirmahin ang paglahok sa unang pagdaraos ng FIBA Esports Open, inihayag ng Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) ang komposisyon ng national team para sa NBA 2K tournament na magaganap sa Hunyo 19-21.
Ang mga miyembro ng national team ng bansa sa FIBA Esports Open ay sina Aljon Cruzin, Rial Polog, Custer Galas, Rocky Brana, Philippe Alcaraz, Clark Banzon, at Al Timajo.
Sina Cruzin, Polog at Galas ay tiyak ng kasama sa active lineup dahil sa kanilang nilalarong puwesto na point guard, shooting guard at small forward ayon sa pagkakasunud-sunod.
Magpapalitan naman sina Brana, Alcaraz, Banzon at Timajo sa dalawang big men spots.
Dahil sa coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic na nakapagpatigil ng lahat ng basketball events, bumaling ang FIBA sa pagdaraos ng esports tournament upang mabigyan ang mga basketball at esports fans ng puwedeng mapanood habang nasa quarantine period.
"The esports initiative was identified by the FIBA Central Board as important and consistent with the strategic objective to enlarge the FIBA family. In these challenging times, we feel encouraged by the enthusiasm of some of our national federations who are already active in this space and have been our charter partners during the last few months," pahayag ni FIBA director general for media and marketing services Frank Leenders.
