Pinanindigan ni Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) chairman Jose Maria “Joma” Sison na hindi siya uuwi ng Pilipinas hangga’t hindi nalalagdaan ang Comprehensive Agreement on Social and Economic Reforms (CASER) sa pagitan ng gobyerno (GRP) at ng National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP).

Iginiit ni Sison na ang pagpirma sa CASER, tinatawag na “heart and soul” ng GRP-NDFP peace negotiations para tugunan ang ugat ng communist insurgencies, ay dapat na gawin sa dayuhan at patas na lugar.

Sinabi niya na hindi mangyayari ang pagbabalik niya sa Agosto 2018 matapos kanselahin ni Pangulong Rodrigo R. Duterte ang sana’y pagpapatuloy ng peace talks na nakatakda sa Hunyo 28 hanggang 30 sa Oslo, Norway.

“If Duterte continues to prevent the peace negotiations, I can also postpone my return until the Filipino people succeed in ousting the tyrant Duterte from power,” diin ni Sison.

Inamin ng Malacanang na wala pa silang natatanggap na kumpirmasyon kaugnay sa ulat na uuwi si Sison sa Agosto.

Ayon kay Presidential Spokesman Secretary Harry Roque, ang malinaw ay naiparating ng Pangulo na sa Pilipinas, at hindi sa Norway nito nais na gaganapin ang peace talks.

Suportado ni Senador Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito ang posisyon ng Pangulo na dito na sa bansa gawin ang peace talks.

“I also believe that having the negotiations here will give the talks more legitimacy, transparency, and urgency in resolving the decades-long conflict,” saad sa pahayag ni Ejercito.

Sang-ayon din sa Pangulo si Senate minority leader Franklin Drilon. “We are all Filipinos anyway, and this problem is our own problem, so it makes sense that the venue of the peace talks is here in the country,” aniya.
