Iniimbestigahan ng Office of the Ombudsman ang umano’y ill-gotten wealth ng nagbitiw na si Davao City vice mayor Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, anak ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
Ibinahagi ni Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales ang balitang ito sa forum on justice and integrity na ginanap sa Novotel Hotel sa Cubao, Quezon City, nitong Martes.
Ibinunyag ni Morales na mayroong pending investigation sa diumano’y nakaw na yaman ng pamilya Duterte.

“Yes, ini-investigate na namin sila. If there’s any liability, we fault them if there is, if there’s none, then sorry,” aniya.
Nang tanungin kung sino sa pamilya Duterte, sumagot si Morales na: “Well, they said there are cases pending investigation. Sabi nila ‘yung vice mayor.”
Sunod na tinanong si Morales kung ang tinutukoy niya ay si Paolo, at sumagot siya na, “Yes.”
Dahil sa kanyang koneksiyon kay Duterte, nag-inhibit sa kaso si Morales. “As far as they are concerned, hindi na ako mag-participate. Even when the President was a mayor, nag inhibit na ako, in writing,” aniya.
Ang pamangkin ni Morales na si Mans Carpio ay manugang ng Pangulo. Kasal si Carpio kay Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
Kinumpirma naman ng Ombudsman na ibinasura na ang kaso laban sa Pangulo. “I was told that the investigation respecting his unexplained wealth has been closed and terminated, when you say closed and terminated, that is without prejudice to another investigation if warranted,” aniya.
Batay sa dokumento na may petsang Enero 12, 2018 mula sa Office of the Ombudsman Central Records Division, limang kaso ang nakabitin laban kay Paolo Duterte. Ang mga ito ay graft, forfeiture, perjury, violation of code of conduct for public officials, at conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service, grave misconduct at serious dishonesty.
