Dalawang 40-footer container van mula sa China, na naglalaman ng misdeclared na sigarilyo at mga paputok na nagkakahalaga ng P8.98 milyon, ang nasamsam ng Bureau of Customs (BoC) sa Port of Manila.

Ang isang container ay naka-consign sa Paragon Platinum International Trading Corporation na nasa The Centennial Bldg., 375 Escolta Street, Binondo. Ang mga record na iniharap ng importer ay nilagdaan ng customs broker na si Bernandine Miranda, ng Manuguit, Tondo.

Nabatid na ang kargamento ng Paragon na dumating nitong Pebrero 21 ay idineklara bilang brackets ngunit natuklasan ng BoC na naglalaman ng kahun-kahong sigarilyo.

Binabaan ito ng alert order ng tanggapan ng district collector upang hindi mailabas ang mga kontrabandong sigarilyo, na nagkakahalaga ng P8.2 milyon.

Ang isa pang kargamento ay nakapangalan sa Power Buster Marketing, na may tanggapan sa Bgy. Paradahan 1, Tanza, Cavite, at inalerto nitong Pebrero 27 dahil sa umano’y misdeclaration.

Nagbaba ng alert order ang legal service nang dumating ang naturang kargamento noong Disyembre 31, 2017.

“Upon inspection, we discovered boxes of fireworks instead of the declaration which is footwear,” ani Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña.

Ang mga paputok ay ibibigay sa tanggapan ng Philippine National Police-Firearms and Explosives Office para sa tamang disposisyon habang sisirain naman ang mga nasamsam na sigarilyo.

Ang mga shipment ay naghihintay na lamang ng paglabas ng warrant of seizure and detention habang sasampahan ang mga importer ng kasong paglabag sa Section 1400 ng RA 10863 o Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
