Ikinatuwa ni Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Andres Bautista ang pagbasura ng Kamara sa impeachment complaint laban sa kanya at sinabing isa itong mahalagang hakbang upang malinis ang kanyang pangalan.

Sa isang pahayag, pinasalamatan ni Bautista ang House Committee on Justice dahil sa pagpapatupad ng Rule of Law at sa ipinakita nitong “objectivity” at “fairness”.

“This proves to be a significant step in clearing my name after the malicious accusations hurled against me. As I have always maintained, the allegations are fabricated and baseless,” ani Bautista.

Ngayong na-dismiss ang reklamo, tiniyak ni Bautista na “business as usual” na ang Comelec kahit pa una nang nanawagan ang kanyang mga kasamahan na magbitiw na siya sa tungkulin.

Samantala, sa kabila ng pagbasura ng Kamara sa impeachment complaint laban kay Bautista, sinabi kahapon ng kampo ng dating asawa ni Bautista, si Patricia, na hindi pa lusot ang poll chief dahil nakatakda itong sampahan ng mga kaukulang kaso gaya ng plunder.

“We remain undeterred. It is just the start. We believe in the system, in the good will and good sense of the Filipino people. This is just bump on the road, but as in all things we remain committed,” sinabi ni Patricia sa mga mamamahayag kahapon sa pagdalo niya sa pagdinig ng Kamara.
