Nanindigan kahapon ang Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) na mananatili ang isang-buwang suspensiyon na ipinataw nito sa accreditation ng Uber Philippines, at iginiit na ilegal ang pagpapatuloy ng operasyon ng grupo kahit pa naghain ito ng motion of reconsideration sa board.
Nagpalabas ng suspension order nitong Lunes ang LTFRB dahil sa patuloy na pagtanggap at pag-activate ng Uber sa mga karagdagang akreditasyon ng transport network vehicle service (TNVS).
“Upon the conduct of investigation by the board... it was found that respondent willfully and contumaciously violates the said directive contained in the order dated 26 July 2017, specifically, by continuing to accept additional accreditation of TNVS and/or activation of accounts,” saad sa LTFRB order.

Sa isang press briefing, sinabi ni LTFRB board member at spokesperson Atty. Aileen Lizada na ipinaalam na niya sa Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Land Transportation Office (LTO), at Highway Patrol Group (HPG) na online na naman ang Uber at dapat itong hulihin.

Nag-reactivate ang Uber ng online hailing app nito kahapon makaraang maghain ng motion for reconsideration sa LTFRB si Atty. Lara Estevez, abogado ng Uber.
“In response to overwhelming rider and driver demand, we have filed a motion for reconsideration with the LTFRB. This means that Uber’s operations will continue until the motion is resolved. Consequently, we will be resuming serving Metro Manila and Cebu,” saad sa pahayag ng Uber matapos maghain ng petisyon.
Sa mosyon nito, iginiit ng Uber na hindi nito nilabag ang order ng LTFRB na huwag nang mag-activate ng mga account at sinabing nilabag ng suspensiyon ang karapatan ng kumpanya sa due process.
Katwiran naman ni Lizada, kahit pa labis ang himutok ng publiko sa pagkakasuspinde ng isa sa mga popular na transport network companies (TNCs), pangunahing ikinokonsidera ng board ang kapakan ng mga driver-partner ng Uber.
Sinabi naman ni LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra III na nagrehistro sila ng tatlong sasakyan sa Uber kaya nakumpirma nila ang pagpapasaway ng ride-sharing service sa kabila ng suspendido ito.
“Hindi pa sila (Uber) natuto sa P5 million fine. This is an open defiance on the part of Uber. Sinabihan na kayo huwag,” ani Lizada. “When you come to government, come with clean hands, because our hands are also clean when we talk to you.”
