Matapos kanselahin ng gobyerno ang backchannel talks sa Communist Party of the Philippines-National Democratic Front (CPP-NDF), hihilingin ng Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) sa mga korte na iutos ang pag-aresto at pagbabalik sa kulungan sa mga consultant nito makaraang payagang magpiyansa.
Ayon kay Solicitor General Jose Calida, maghahain sila ng kaukulang mosyon sa mga korte para kanselahin ang bail bond ng mga consultant ng NDF, at iuutos ang muling pag-aresto sa mga ito upang maibalik sa kulungan.
Paliwanag ni OSG spokesperson Eric Dy, “the conditional release granted them (NDF consultants) by the courts are for the sole purpose of the formal peace negotiations.”

Nilinaw din ni Dy na “the conditions are based on the Supreme Court Resolution dated 2 August 2016, and not based on JASIG (Joint Agreement on Safety and Immunity Guarantee).”
“The conditions provide that should the formal peace negotiations cease or fail, their bond shall be deemed automatically cancelled,” dagdag niya.
Ginawa ni Calida ang hakbangin matapos na kumpirmahin ni Presidential Peace Adviser Jesus Dureza na hindi matutuloy ang backchannel talks sa NDF, na gagawin sana sa Europa sa mga susunod na araw.
Ito ay kasunod ng pag-atake ng New People’s Army (NPA) sa mga miyembro ng Presidential Security Group (PSG) sa Arakan, North Cotabato, na ikinasugat ng lima sa PSG.
