Bilang bahagi ng selebrasyon ng Labor Day, nakatakdang makipag-usap si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa mga labor stakeholder, na sa unang pagkakataon ay sa People’s Park sa Davao City isasagawa.
Ayon kay Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) Undersecretary Joel Maglunsod, ilan sa mga pag-uusapan sa pagpupulong ay ang isyu sa paghahanap-buhay gaya ng contractualization, dagdag-sahod, at subsidy.
Isiniwalat ni Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III na maaari ring banggitin ng Pangulo ang tungkol sa posibilidad ng “financial benefits” para sa mga manggagawa.
“We are preparing an announcement for the President to address the issue on wage, which will serves he gift to workers (sa Labor Day)...We are still completing the draft (recommendation) since it involves long debates and computation for our part,” ani Bello.

“We will leave it to the President (na ihayag) for possible benefits to the workers,” dagdag ni Bello.
SUBSIDY, PAG-AARALAN
Gayunman, sinabi ni Bello na malabong kapalooban ito ng hinihiling ng Associated Labor Unions-Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (ALU-TUCP) na aprubahan ang P500 government cash subsidy para sa mga manggagawa.
“But we are not outright discounting this. We will still study it,” sambit ni Bello.
200,000 TRABAHO
Aabot sa 200,000 trabaho ang iaalok sa 55 Trabaho, Negosyo, at Kabuhayan (TNK) fair na pamamahalaan ng DoLE sa susunod na linggo para sa isang-buwang selebrasyon ng Labor Day.
Sa press conference, sinabi ng Labor Undersecretary na nasa 1,138 employer ang makikiisa sa TNKs na idaraos sa 17 rehiyon sa bansa.
“Most of these jobs fairs will be in NCR (National Capital Region),” ayon kay Maglunsod. (Samuel Medenilla)
