Sinuspinde ng pulisya ang lahat ng operasyon nito laban sa New People’s Army (NPA) bilang tugon sa pagdedeklara ni Pangulong Duterte ng unilateral ceasefire sa grupo sa kanyang unang State of the Nation Address (SONA) nitong Lunes.
Ayon kay Senior Supt. Dionardo Carlos, tagapagsalita ng Philippine National Police (PNP), indefinite ang tigil-putukan sa mga rebelde hanggang sa maglabas ng panibagong direktiba na bumabawi o nagpapalawig dito.
Kabilang sa sinuspinde ng pulisya ang pagtugis para mailigtas ang tatlong pulis at isang police civilian employee na binihag ng NPA.
“All units shall refrain from initiating tactical operations against the CNN (Communist Party of the Philippines, National Democratic Front, New People’s Army),” saad sa order na nilagdaan ni Deputy Director General Benjamin Magalong, deputy chief for Operations.

“All SAF (Special Action Force) test missions will be suspended except competency trainings,” dagdag pa.
Gayunman, nilinaw ni Carlos na hindi saklaw ng Suspension of Police Operations (SOPO) ang mga karaniwang operasyon ng pulisya gaya ng pagsisilbi ng arrest warrant, pagbubukas ng checkpoint, at pagpapatrulya—at mananatiling nakadepensa sakaling pangunahan ng NPA ang pag-atake.
Una nang ipinatigil ng militar ang opensiba laban sa NPA.
Pinuri naman kahapon ni Agusan del Sur Gov. Adolph Edward G. Plaza ang pagdedeklara ni Pangulong Duterte ng unilateral ceasefire laban sa CPP-NPA-NDF, sinabing “the Mindanao elusive peace is finally achieved”.
“The unilateral ceasefire against the insurgents is key for lasting peace, development and progress in the country, especially for Mindanao,” aniya.
“The establishment of lasting peace means that officials of the government can now focus on various projects such as livelihood, tourism, agriculture and more infrastructures that would bring development to the areas badly disturbed by the conflict,” sabi ni Plaza.
Kasunod nito, pinakilos na ng gobernador ang lahat ng department head sa kapitolyo, gayundin ang mga alkalde sa lalawigan na ipursige na ang kani-kanilang proyektong pangkaunlaran. (AARON RECUENCO at MIKE CRISMUNDO)
