LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte – Iprinoklama ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ang isang natalo sa pagkandidatong alkalde noong 2013 bilang tunay na halal na mayor ng bayan ng Marcos sa Ilocos Norte.
Nagdesisyon ang Comelec en banc na si Salvador S. Pillos ang tunay na nagwagi sa pagkaalkalde ng Marcos noong Mayo 13, 2013.
Ito ay dahil nadiskuwalipika ang kanyang katunggali, ang nanalong alkalde na si Arsenio Agustin, dahil sa usapin sa pagkakaroon ng dual citizenship.
“On the basis of the April 13, 2013 Resolution of the Commission En Banc in SPA 15-023 (DC) cancelling and denying due course the Certificate of Candidacy of Arsenio A. Agustin; the November 10, 2015 Resolution of the Supreme Court in G.R. No. 207105 dismissing Agustin’s Petition for Certiori and affirming the Resolution dated April 13, 2013 insofar as it disqualified Arsenio A. Agustin from running for any elective position in the May 13, 2013 elections; declaring Salvador S. Pillos the duly elected mayor of the Municipality of Marcos, Ilocos Norte in the May 13, 2013 elections; and, consequently ordering the proclamation of Salvador S. Pillos as the duly elected Mayor of the Municipality of Marcos, Ilocos Norte,” saad sa proklamasyon ng Comelec nitong Marso 18, 2016.

Sa isang panayam sa radyo, sinabi naman ni Atty. Ferdinand Ignacio, abogado ni Pillos—na nakakuha ng 4,216 na boto noong Mayo 13, 2013—na agad na nanumpa sa tungkulin ang kanyang kliyente bilang halal na alkalde ng Marcos, matapos itong iproklama ng Comelec central office. (Freddie G. Lazaro)
