SUMANG-AYON ang Supreme Court (SC), sa botong 9-6, sa pagtakbo ni Sen. Grace Poe sa panguluhan sa May 9 national polls.
“Go” na sa pagtakbo si Amazing Garce. Asahan ang kapana-panabik at mainitang halalan sa darating na Mayo.
Inaprubahan din ang petisyon ni dating Senador Richard Gordon na mag-isyu ang Commission on Elections (Comelec) ng resibo sa pamamagitan ng Voters Verfication Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT).
Bilang aksiyon sa petisyon ni Poe, binaliktad ng SC ang desisyon ng Comelec na nagdidiskuwalipika kay Poe sa pagtakbo sa panguluhan kaugnay sa kanyang citizenship at tagal ng paninirahan niya sa Pilipinas.
Maaaring tumakbong pangulo si Poe, pagdedeklara ng SC.
“I wish to thank the SC for recognizing truth and justice and granting protection to foundlings, the poor, and the oppressed.Now we have a chance for change...and promotion of unity,” ani Poe.
Tinanggap naman na ng mga kalaban ni Poe sa pulitika ang naging desisyon ng SC.
Kumpirmadong maaaring tumakbo si Poe bilang pangulo at hindi kami susuko sa laban, anila.
“Good luck to her and I wish her the best,” ayon kay PDP-Laban presidentiable Davao Mayor Rody Duterte.
“We have been campaigning on the assumption that she was in the race,” sabi naman ni Mar Roxas.
“The SC decision has no bearing on our campaign...to address poverty,” pahayag naman ni Vice President Jejomar Binay ng UNA.
“But watch Sen. Poe to rise even to greater heights,” palagay ni Susan Ople na tumatakbong senador.
Ipinag-utos ng SC sa Comelec na gamitin ang VVPAT sa darating na eleksiyon.
Pag-imprenta ng resibo kapag nakaboto na ang isang botante, ayon sa korte.
Ang unanimous na botohan na binubuo ng 14 na justices ay tinanggap ni Gordon, ang may akda ng Automated Election Law, Republic Act No. 9369.
Ayon sa SC: “The Commission on Elections is ordered to enable the vote verification feature of the vote counting machines, which prints the voter’s choices without prejudice to the issuance of guidelines to regulate the release and disposal of the issued receipts.
“Ensure a clean, honest, and orderly elections,” ayon pa sa SC. (FRED M. LOBO)
