BEIJING (AP) — Pinutol ang Chinese access sa email service ng Google Inc. sa gitna ng mga pagsisikap ng na limitahan o posibleng ipagbawal ang access sa mga serbisyo ng US company, na popular sa mga Chinese na nagtatangkang maiwasan ang government monitoring.

Sinabi ni Taj Meadows, spokesman ng Google Asia Pacific, na sinuri ng Google ang kanyang email service at “there’s nothing technically wrong on our end.”

Sa editorial noong Martes, nagpahiwatig ang Chinese Communist Party-run Global Times newspaper, nang hindi kinukumpirma, na ang gobyerno ang pumutol sa access sa Gmail.

“If the China side indeed blocked Gmail, the decision must have been prompted by newly emerged security reasons,” the editorial read. “If that is the case, Gmail users need to accept the reality of Gmail being suspended in China. But we hope it is not the case.”
