ILOILO CITY -- Pinakawalan kamakailan ang 83 pawikan sa Boracay Island sa Aklan.

“The recording of turtle species laying eggs in the island of Boracay is a visible proof of the richness of the marine ecosystem and water resources around the island,” saad ni Livino Duran, regional executive director ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) sa Western Visayas.

Pinangunahan ng Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) ng DENR-Boracay at Boracay New Coast ang pagpapakawala sa 83 Olive Ridleys.

Dahil sa malawakang rehabilitasyon ng pamahalaan sa isla noong 2018, nakipagtulungan ang DENR-6 sa private partners nito upang magsagawa ng mga hakbanging sa pagpapalakas ng pangangalaga sa kapaligiran.

Pinaalalahanan din ni Duran ang publiko na maging mas maingat sa pakikitungo sa mga hayop sa dagat at sa iba pang mga hayop.

“After the recent arrest of poachers found violating the Wildlife Conservation Act in Sulu, the DENR-6 is intensifying the need to educate the public and guard this beautiful marine creature and other creatures found in land, air and water,” aniya.
