Makapagbibigay proteksyon laban sa Omicron variant ang Sputnik coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccine mula sa Russia, ayon sa developers ng bakuna.

“A preliminary laboratory study conducted by the Gamaleya Center has demonstrated that the Sputnik V vaccine and the one-shot Sputnik Light booster are effective against Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of COVID, providing for better protection when compared to other vaccines,” sinabi ng Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) sa isang pahayag.

Dagdag pa ng RDIF, "the Sputnik V vaccine has demonstrated three to seven times less of a reduction in virus neutralizing activity against Omicron as compared to data from other vaccine producers.”

Samantala, ang single shot na Sputnik Light ay epektibo rin bilang booster doses, ayon sa RDIF.
