Dahil sa mga pagdududa sa kaligtasan ng electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), isinusulong ng anti-tobacco use group na New Vois Association of the Philippines (NVAP) na pansamantalang ipagbawal ang electronic cigarettes (e-cigs) sa bansa.
Iginiit ni Emer Rojas, president ng Quezon City based NVAP, na mas mabuti na ipagbawal muna ng gobyerno ang paggamit ng e-cigs sa bansa hanggang sa lubusang matiyak ng health experts ang kaligtasan nito.
“There is a need to ban e-cigarettes even at the local level until there are sufficient evidence that will prove that they are safe for consumers,” ani Rojas.

Ang panawagan ni Rojas ay alinsunod sa posisyon ng Southeast Asia Tobacco Control Alliance (SEATCA) kaugnay sa pagbabawal sa e-cigarette products.
“Developing countries must not be pressured into allowing ENDS until regulatory / governance issues are clear to protect the youth against e-cigs use and safety standards are established,” saad ng SEATCA.
Binanggit ng SEATCA na ipinagbawal na ng Brunei, Cambodia, Singapore, at Thailand ang e-cigarettes.
