LONDON (AP) — Walang alinlangan, si Andy Murray ang premyadong player sa mundo sa pagtatapos ng season.
Kakailanganin ng Wimbledon champion na maipanalo ang huling laban sa ATP calendar at nagawa niya ito kontra sa pamosong karibal na si Novak Djokovic.
Ginapi ni Murray si Djokovic, 6-3, 6-4,nitong Linggo (Lunes sa Manila) sa ATP finals, at masiguro ang kapit sa top ranking hanggang sa susunod na season.
"I would like to try and stay there, obviously. It's taken a huge effort the last five, six months to get there," sambit ni Murray, naagaw ang No.1 ranking kay Djokovic may dalawang linggo na ang nakalilipas.
"I'm aware that's going to be extremely difficult because I had a great year this year. I only managed to do it by one match,” aniya.
Ngunit, nagbabanta ang pagkasibak sa puwesto nang mas maaga ni Murray nang mapuwersa siya sa three-set kontra Milos Raonic sa semifinal nitong Sabado.
Kontra kay Djokovic, kaagad siyang nagtala ng double-fault, subalit nang magsimula nang pumasok ang kanyang service play, nakuha na ni Murray ang tempo ng laro.
"There was no serious chance for me to win today's match," pag-aamin ni Djokovic.
"From the very beginning we could see that. He was just a better player all in all."
"I didn't do much from my side. Every time I would get an opportunity, I would miss," aniya.
Bunsod nito, tinanghal si Murray na unang player maliban kina Djokovic, Roger Federer at Rafael Nadal na tinapos ang isang season bilang No. 1-ranked player.
