Nag-react ang Akbayan Party hinggil sa pahayag ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na mapipilitan siyang bumalik sa politika kapag pinatalsik umano sa puwesto ang anak niyang si Vice President Sara Duterte.

“Alam mo kapag ginawa ninyo ‘yan, babalik ako sa politika. Mapilitan ako. It’s either I run for senator or I will run for vice president maski matanda na ako,” ani Duterte noong Nobyembre 20.

"Mr. Duterte should stop issuing empty threats. Bumenta na yan! He wants to run for office not to protect his daughter, but to run away from justice," anang Akbayan.

Pahayag ni Akbayan Party Spokesperson Percival Cendana, wala raw sa posisyon ang dating pangulo para magbanta. Maghanda na lamang daw ito sa harapin ang International Criminal Court (ICC).

“The former President is in no position to make threats. His words sound like a film franchise with too many sequels – diminishing returns, fatigue has set in, and the audience has left the fear theater. He will soon be a fugitive. Instead of running his mouth off, he should prepare himself to face the International Criminal Court (ICC). He has the blood of thousands of Filipinos on his hands. And he and his enablers will face justice,” aniya.

“Imbes na takutin niya tayo na babalik siya sa politika at tatakbong senador at bise presidente, matakot siya sa paglabas ng arrest warrants ng ICC. In such a scenario, Duterte might run away from justice instead of running for office. But whether he flees or runs for office to escape legal accountability, the people will thwart his desperate efforts," dagdag pa ni Cendana.

Samantala, sinabi ni VP Sara na susuportahan niya ang kaniyang ama kung ano man umano ang maging desisyon nito.

“Kung ano man ‘yung desisyon ni Pangulong Duterte ay buo ang suporta ng pamilya sa kaniya, just like kung ano man ‘yung mga desisyon namin na mga anak regarding sa politika, buo rin ‘yung suporta ng pamilya sa amin,” saad ng bise presidente.
