Kaaya-ayang mga larawan tampok ang Salinggogon tree, katutubong puno ng Pilipinas na kahawig ng cherry blossoms ng Japan, ang ibinahagi ng Masungi Georeserve.

Sa social media post ng Masungi noong Miyerkules, Marso 22, kapansin-pansin ang kulay pink na ganda ng Salinggogon na tila kinunan talaga sa bansang Japan.

“Native to the Philippines, the Salinggogon tree (𝘊𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘹𝘺𝘭𝘶𝘮 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘶𝘮) can grow up to 65 feet tall, with some known specimens reaching over 140 feet.

“While Salinggogon trees abound in the georeserve, more of this flora species have already been planted in the Masungi Geopark Project, our reforestation initiative in denuded watershed areas. However, they are all young and we will need patience to see a forest of pink blooms in the future,” saad ng Masungi.

“Under our park rangers' care, these magnificent trees will someday be in full bloom at almost the same time as its famous Japanese look-alike, the Sakura.”

Nito lamang nakaraang taon, naharap ang nasabing Masungi Georeserve, na may lawak na 1,500-ektarya, sa mga banta mula sa iba’t ibang human activities. Ito ang nag-udyok sa mga indibidwal at grupo na manawagan sa pamahalaan na proteksyunan ito.
