IPINAGDIWANG ng Philippine Skating Union (PHSU) ang Ice Skating Day bilang pagpupugay sa matagumpay na kampanya ng Pinoy ice skaters nitong Linggo sa Ice Skating Rink sa SM Megamall sa Mandaluyong City.
Sa naturang programa, ipinakilala rin ng PHSU, sa pangunguna nina president Josie Veguillas at sports director Christopher ‘Pico’ Martin ang mga atleta na bubuo sa National Team, kasabay ang pagpapahayag na nagkaloob ng suporta sa koponan ang Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) at Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).
“I really don’t know yet because this will be our first time asking the PSC/ POC for support. Ice skating is really expensive. At least it can help a little to offset the expense of the skaters,” pahayag ni Veguillas.
Iginiit naman ni Martin na anumang ayuda mula sa pamahalaan ay tapik sa balikat para sa ice skating.
“With the partnership with the POC and POS, kelangan natin magkaron ng dedicated coach sa team. Kung masyadong mahal, siguro mas maganda din na magkaron tayo ng proper training sa mga bansang nag e-excel sa sport na ito like Korea, Canada and ibang mga bansa sa Europe,” sambit ni Martin.
