Pagkiling ng FIVB sa PVF, dapat kilalanin ng POC

WALA ng dapat pang patunayan ang Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) para kilalanin ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) bilang tanging sports association sa volleyball sa bansa.

Ayon kay PVF president Edgardo ‘Tito Boy’ Cantada ang pagtanggi ng International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) na patalsikin ang PVF bilang orihinal na miyembro ay patunay lamang ng pagkilala nito sa hustisya at tamang proseso.

“The ball is on the POC’s hand. Nagdesisyon na ang FIVB, dapat itong kilalanin ng POC kasabay ang pagkilos na bigyan kami ng karapatan na dingin ang aming isyu sa General Assembly. Kung magbotohan ang GA at kami ay pinatatalsik, magpapasalamat kami dahil dumaan kami sa proseso,” sambit ni Cantada.

“The PVF has waited long enough, it is willing to be investigated by the POC and judged by its peers in the General Assembly. Let us all be gentlemen here, we owe PH sports a show of true fairness and justice,” pahayag ni Cantada.

Nitong Nobyembre 24 sa 36th World Congress ng FIVB sa Cancun, Mexico, ibinasura ng FIVB ang hiling na regular membership ng LVPI matapos mabigong alisin ang PVF nang hindi makakuha ng sapat na two-third votes ang Congress.

Sa 200 miyembro, 109 lamang ang bumoto para alisin ang PVF habang 49 ang kumatig na panatiliin ito at 28 ang abstained.

“The POC under Mr. Vargas owe it to the hundreds of thousands of school children and sports educators all over the country to act on the PVF case not soon but now,” pahayag ni Cantada.

“Justice delayed is justice denied. The POC should among the first to adhere to this line, because the POC we’re sure knows the value and meaning of sportsmanship. As for the LVPI nad its imagined legitimacy, cheaters to someplace else other than the top,” aniya.

“The LVPI should realize now that it can only fool some but not all in the FIVB. We would like to tahnk the FIVB members for showing the world that honourable sportsmen still exist. Now we wish the POC can emulate this grand act of the FIVB.”

Matatandaang, binuwag ng POC, sa pamumuno noon ni Peping Cojuangco ang PVF na walang basbas ng General Assembly na siyang nakatadhana sa constitution and bylaws ng Olympic body at kagyat na itinatag ang Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas, Inc (LVPI) na pinamumunuan ngayon ni Peter Cayco.
