Hihilingin ng Department of Justice (DoJ) sa Makati City Regional Trial Court (RTC) na muling buksan ang mga kaso at magpalabas ng arrest warrant laban kay Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, kasunod ng pagpapawalang-bisa ni Pangulong Duterte sa amnestiya ng senador kaugnay ng Oakwood mutiny noong 2003 at Manila Peninsula siege noong 2007.

Naghain na kahapon ang DoJ sa Makati RTC ng mosyon para magpalabas ang korte ng alias warrant at hold departure order (HDO) laban kay Trillanes.

“After proper review of the records of this case, we have determined that is something that is ripe for reopening that there are grounds to reopen the case, then the first order of the day is simply to ask the court for the issuance of an alias warrant so that the person of the accused will be brought in the custody of the court,” sinabi kahapon ni Justice of Secretary Menardo Guevarra sa mga mamahayag.

Kaugnay nito, habang sinusulat ang balitang ito ay wala pang pasya ang Senado kung pahihintulutan ang pag-aresto kay Trillanes.

Ayon kay Senate President Vicente Sotto III, hindi pa niya natatanggap ang kopya ng Proclamation No. 572 na nagpapawalang-bisa sa amnestiya ni Trillanes at pagpapadakip sa huli “immediately”/.

“The matter concerning one of our colleagues will have to be discussed by the Senate as a collegial body. I will issue a statement later on,” sinabi ni Sotto kahapon ng tanghali.

Kasabay nito, namataan ang ilang operatiba ng Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) sa Senado, pero iginiit ni Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri na hindi maaaring magsagawa ng pag-aresto sa loob ng Senado habang may sesyon o committee hearing.
