Dalawang impeachment complaint ang inihain laban kay Supreme Court Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno kahapon ngunit hindi inaasahang lulusot dahil sa kukulangan ng endorser.
Habang isinusulat ang balitang ito kahapon, inihain ang 12-pahinang impeachment complaint ng Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption at ng Vanguards of the Philippines Inc. sa Office of House Secretary General Cesar Pareja.
Sinabi ng abogadong si Larry Gadon, pangulo ng PDU30 Constitutional Reform for Federalism at kumandidatong senador noong 2016 national elections, na inaasahan niyang iendorso ng mga mambabatas ang kanyang 54-pahinang reklamo laban kay Sereno.

Inaakusahan ni Gadon si Sereno ng culpable violation ng Konstitusyon sa pagsisinungaling sa Statement of Assets, Liablities and Net Worth (SALN) nito, obstruction of justice kaugnay sa warrant of arrest laban kay Sen. Leila de Lima, betrayal of public trust, corruption, at iba pang krimen.
“Several House members have given assurances that they will support the complaint. We expect them to endorse it today or tomorrow. Definitely, the complaint will be filed today, whether or not it will be backed up by an endrosement,” ani Gadon.
Binanggit naman ni VACC founding chairman Dante Jimenez at VPCI president Eligio Mallari ang “five major issues affecting the competence” ni Sereno na inakusahan nila ng culpable violation ng Konstitusyon, betrayal of public trust at graft.
Sa ilalim ng House impeachment rule, walang reklamong uusad kung walang pag-endorso ng incumbent member ng kapulungan.
Nagpahayag si Mindoro Oriental Rep. Rey Umali, chairman ng House Committee on Justice, na ang impeachment case ay maaaring makasagabal sa pagpasa ng mahahalagang panukalang batas na nakahain sa kanyang komite.
