Ikinatuwa ng social action arm ng Simbahang Katoliko ang pagkakatalaga kay Vice President Leni Robredo bilang chairperson ng Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC).

Sinabi kahapon ni Fr. Edu Gariguez, executive secretary ng Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP)-National Secretariat for Social Action Justice & Peace, na masaya silang ibinigay ni Pangulong Duterte ang isang puwesto sa Gabinete sa isang opisyal na may malasakit sa mahihirap at hindi sa isang tradisyunal na pulitiko.

“VP Leni is different because she is not a traditional politician. We expect a better performance and a more consultative, pro-people development and implementation for the poor,” sinabi ni Gariguez sa isang panayam.

“She has a big potential that should be put to good use. The orientation that she can bring to the government... that of servant leadership, pro-people development and a heart for the people. I think this is also what the President wants,” dagdag ni Gariguez.

Pinuri rin niya si Duterte sa pagtatalaga kay Gina Lopez sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) at kay Rafael Mariano sa Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

Sa harap ng ilang mamamahayag nitong Huwebes, tinawagan ni Pangulong Duterte si Robredo upang alukin itong pamunuan ang HUDCC, na tinanggap naman ng Bise Presidente.

Pinadadalo rin ng Pangulo si Robredo sa pulong ng Gabinete sa Lunes.

Ang nasabing puwesto ay hinawakan din ni dating Vice President Jejomar Binay sa administrasyong Aquino.
