Inaasahang lalo pang titindi ang kalbaryo ng mga commuter sa mas mahabang pila sa pagsakay ng Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 3 matapos italaga ang maximum speed nito sa 40 kilometro kada oras mula sa dating 60 kilometero kada oras.
Ang bagong speed limit ang MRT 3 ay sinimulang ipatupad ng Department of Transportation and Communication (DoTC) kahapon.
Dahil sa 40 kilometer per hour (kph) speed limit, aabutin ng halos 85 minuto ang bawat tren upang tahakin ang buong EDSA mula Taft Avenue sa Pasay City hanggang North Avenue sa Quezon City at pabalik, ayon sa tagapagsalita ng MRT 3 na si Atty. Hernando Cabrera.

“Each train takes one hour and 10 minutes to make a loop with the 60 kph speed limit. With the new 40 kph speed limit, there will be additional 15 minutes in the train’s loop time or roughly 7 to 10 additional minutes to make an end-to-end trip,” paliwanag ni Cabrera.
Dahil sa mas mababang speed limit, inaasahang hahaba ang pila ng mga pasahero sa mga MRT station bunsod na mas mabagal na pagdating ng tren.
“There will be lesser trips. But with the choice between safety and convenience, we will always choose safety. We hope that our riders will understand the need to primarily consider and be guided by safety considerations,” paliwanag ni Cabrera.
