Binabalak ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na sa private plane na lamang sumakay at iilang tao lamang ang isasama sa kanyang pagbisita sa Singapore para sa 32nd Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit ngayong linggo.
Makakasama ni Pangulong Duterte ang siyam na iba pang ASEAN leaders sa summit sa Singapore, simula Abril 27 hanggang 28.
Ito ang ipinahayag ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque matapos maiulat na hindi na gagamit si Duterte ng chartered commercial plane, hindi magsasama ng malaking delegasyon, at wala nang pre-departure at arrival speeches, ngayong linggo.

Ayon sa opisyal ng Palasyo, ito ang napagdesisyunan ng Pangulo para makatipid sa pera ng taumbayan.
“To save money. It’s expensive to charter a plane and a leaner delegation would mean lesser cost for the taxpayer,” ani Roque kahapon ng umaga.
“You know, the private planes is an eight-seater plane. So it’s a very small plane. It’s a two hour flight from Davao to Singapore so it’s not a long flight,” dugtong niya.
Sinabi rin ni Roque na dadalo si Duterte sa pagpupulong ng mga lider kayat hindi na kailangan ang magdala ng napakaraming tao.
“It’s a leaders’ meeting that’s why he’s going but it’s not like the Summit that we hosted [last November, 2017]. The big summit will be when the turnover will happen. So, that’s why we’re also cutting on costs,” ani Roque.
Hindi pa kumpirmado ang listahan ng mga opisyal ng gobyerno na kasama sa delegasyon, ngunit sinabi ni Roque na tiyak na kabilang si Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go, at marahil isang nurse, sa private plane ni Duterte.
“I think other than SAP Go, all the other people in the plane will be staff complement of the President including a nurse, you know things like that,” ani Roque.
“So it’s a very small team that will fly with him and it’s a lot cheaper compared to chartering a whole, an entire Philippine Airlines plane,” dagdag niya.
Gayunman, hindi pa sigurado si Roque kung talagang hindi na magbibigay si Duterte ng nakagawiang pre-departure at arrival speeches na karaniwang ginagawa ng Pangulo ng Pilipinas sa tuwing bibisita sa ibang bansa.
“I saw a schedule so I am now confused because I am coming from here to Singapore so I will not be able to witness the departure statement,” ani Roque .
Batay sa official schedule ng Pangulo, nakatakdang magbigay ng pre-departure speech sa Davao City si Duterte bago umalis patungong Singapore sa Huwebes.
Kasama sa itinerary ng Pangulo ang pagtatalumpati sa Summit, dalawang speaking engagement sa Working Dinner sa Biyernes, at Leaders’ Retreat sa susunod na araw. Magkakaroon din siya ng bilateral meeting kay Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, ang kasalukuyang ASEAN chairman.
Sinabi ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) na inaayos na rin nila ang pakikipagpulong ng Pangulo sa mga miyembro ng Filipino community sa Singapore.
