NAGKAMPEON si Filipino Conrado Diaz, certified United States Chess Federation (USCF) chess master, sa katatapos na 18th Bob Burger Open Chess Championships nitong Enero 6 sa Mechanics’ Institute Chess Club sa San Francisco, California sa United States.

Nakasalo ni Diaz sa unang puwesto ang isa pang Filipino entry na si Romulo Fuentes dahil kapwa sila nakalikom ng tig 4.5 puntos sa limang laro. Subalit matapos ipatupad ang tie break points ay naiuwi ni Diaz ang coveted title sa event na layuning ma-recognize ang well known master, author at problem composer na si USCF chess master Bob Burger.

Binati ni Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) founding president Atty. Cliburn Anthony A. Orbe ang panibagong tagumpay ni Diaz.

“USCF chess master Conrado Diaz open his quest for the year 2018 with a big bang as he finished first overall in the 18th Bob Burger Open Chess Championships in United States. You made your country proud,” pahayag ni Orbe, vice president din ng National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP).

Tumapos naman sina Ezra Pau Chambers, Maxim Gre Elisman at Anthony Acosta ng three-way tie sa third pace na may tig 4.0 puntos. Nakamit ni Chambers ang third place honor sa superior tiebreak points kontra kina fourth place Elisman at fifth place Acosta.

Nasukbit naman ni Lucas Jiang ang solong ika-6 na puwesto na may nakamadang 3.5 puntos.
