Lumagda kahapon ang Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) at ang Chamber of Mines of the Philippines (COMP) sa kasunduang magdebelop ng mga bagong teknolohiya na makatutulong nang malaki sa pagsusulong ng industriya ng pagmimina sa bansa.
Sinabi ni DOST-PCIEERD director Carlos Primo David na layunin ng partnership na maitaas ang resulta ng mga pananaliksik na makatutulong upang matugunan ang mga walang katiyakang polisiya dulot ng kakulangan ng science-based research results sa pagsusulong ng responsableng pagmimina.
“To us, well, the mining industry is still an industry where DOST aims to help for its future development,” sabi ni David sa paglalagda ng memorandum of agreement (MOA) sa Manila Golf and Country Club sa Makati City.
“What the DOST does is to provide technology so that they continue mining but reduce environmental impact,” ani David.

Ang COMP naman ang magpapaabot ng mga isyu sa minahan at tutukoy sa mga posibleng proyekto kaugnay sa pananaliksik at pagdedebelop ng roadmap para sa sektor ng pagminina ng PCIEERD.
“We need to study how we can best improve mining industry so that mineral resources can be done at the highest level with the best available technology,” sabi ni Benjamin Philip Romualdez, president ng COMP. (Martin A. Sadongdong)
