Hindi muna inaksiyunan ng House committee on government enterprises and privatization at ng House committee on transportation ang panukalang magtatatag sa Laoag International Airport Authority habang naka-pending ang pagsusumite ng 10-year feasibility study ng Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) at ng iba pang ahensiya ng gobyerno.
Iminungkahi ni Leyte 1st District Rep. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez, isa sa mga may akda ng House Bill 2024, na huwag muna itong talakayin at aprubahan, dahil na rin sa mga ulat na nanamlay ang pagdating at pag-alis ng mga pasahero sa nasabing paliparan.
“The volume of passengers from 2013 to 2015 went down. In 2013, the Laoag International Airport handled 232,000 passengers. In 2014, the volume of passengers was 193,000 and 175,000 in 2015,” ayon sa report. (Bert de Guzman)
