ROCHESTER, New York (AP) — Naisalpak ni US-based Pinay Clariss Guce ang 12-foot birdie putt sa par-3 final hole para sa 5-under 67 at isang stroke na bentahe para makopo ang Danielle Downey Credit Union Classic nitong Linggo (Lunes sa Manila).
Naungusan ni Guce, miyembro ng US NCAA Division 1 California StateNorthridge, ang karibal na sina Ally McDonald at Sophia Popov para sa kauna-unahang panalo sa Symetra Tour – developmental tournament ng Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA)
“As soon as I hit it, I just thought, ‘Wow! That looks really, really good, but don’t celebrate too early because you might get burned,” pahayag ng 26-anyos na si Guce.

Tumapos si Guce na may kabuuang iskor na 11-under 277 sa Brook-Lea Country Club at makamit ang $30,000 premyo, sapat para bumaba sa ika-12 puwesto mula sa dating 84th ranked sa money na may kabuuang $34,859 premyo.
Ang final top 10 matapos ang naturang Tour at awtomatikong makalalaro sa LPGA Tour.
“It is an amazing feeling, especially because I have been struggling quite a bit during the season,” sambit ni Guce.
“Being able to make a cut a couple weeks ago and then to win here, I can’t even describe how fast this is happening.
It just shows that anyone out here can win, the fields are just so good,” aniya.
Nagpakatatag si Guce sa krusyal na sandali na nagresulta ng “eagle” sa par-5 10th hole, bago nakaiskor ng triple bogey sa par-3 12th. Nakabawi ang dating miyembro ng Cal State Northridge sa naiskor na birdie sa par-4 14th at 15th, bago senelyuhan ang panalo sa impresibong birdie sa No.18.
Tumapos si Dottie Ardina, SEA Games veteran, ng 73 para sa 287 total at makisosyo sa ika-22 puwesto, habang isa pang Pinay na si Mia Piccio ang umiskor ng final-round 71 para sa kabuuang 289 at sosyong ika-33 puwesto.
Kapwa kumubra ng birdie sa final hole sina McDonald (64,) at Popov (68).
Hataw naman si Madelene Sagstrom, two-time winner ngayong season at lider sa money list, sa naiskor na 68 para makisosyo sa ikaapat na puwesto.
“I’m glad that last putt went in because I couldn’t breathe until it went in,” sambit ni Guce.
“I knew it was going to be close but I needed to birdie for sure with Sophia coming in,” aniya.
“I was counting on her birdieing No. 18, or No. 17 but I knew I needed one more. I ended up hitting such a great shot into that green, with an up-the-hill put, I couldn’t ask for anything better.”
Ngunit, taliwas ang kaganapan matapos mag-bogey si Popov sa No.17 at lumagpak sa malayo ang tee shot sa No.18 para masiguro ang panalo ni Guce na kapwa Pilipino ang magulang.
