Pinagpapaliwanag ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ang Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) sa alegasyon hinggil sa umano’y manipulasyon sa bilangan ng boto sa resulta ng eleksiyon matapos maungkat ang discrepancy sa bilang ng nakuhang boto ng Confederation of Non-Stock Savings and Loan Associations (CONSLA) Party-list group.
Sa panayam, hindi binalewala ni Comelec Spokesman James Jimenez ang posibilidad na magsasagawa ng imbestigasyon ang poll body sa reklamo ng CONSLA, subalit obligasyon, aniya, ng PPCRV na unang magbigay ng paliwanag sa isyu.
“The letter is basically pointing out discrepancies between the PPCRV count and the Comelec count. Recently, the PPCRV has admitted that there were some miscalculations on their part. So, I think in the first instance the people who should do the explaining is the PPCRV,” pahayag ni Jimenez.
Ayon sa opisyal, dapat silipin ng PPCRV ang sistema nito upang matukoy kung bakit hindi tumugma ang quick count nito sa official tally ng Comelec.

“You look at what the problem identified is. In this case, the discrepancy is between an unofficial source and the official result. So, tingnan mo muna ‘yung unofficial before you disturb the official one,” giit ni Jimenez.
Tiniyak naman ni Jimenez na handa ang Comelec na tulungan ang PPCRV upang matukoy ang pinagmulan ng discrepancy subalit ito ay dapat idaan sa tamang proseso.
Sa isang liham, ipinagtataka ng CONSLA kung paano lumitaw sa PPCRV quick count, na nakuha sa transparency server, na mayroon na itong 342,513 boto noong Mayo 9.
Ngunit sa vote tally dakong 11:00 ng umaga ng sumunod na araw, nadiskubre ng CONSLA na umabot na sa 523,753 ang boto nito sa PPCRV tally at 555,896 sa pagsapit ng tanghali upang makapuwesto bilang ika-14 sa hanay ng mga party-list group. (Anna Liza Villas-Alavaren)
