Binatikos ng Institute for Occupational Health and Safety Development (IOHSAD), isang non-government organization, ang Office of the Ombudsman sa hindi pagsama sa kaso sa mga opisyal ng Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) at Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) kaugnay ng pagkasunog ng pabrika ng Kentex sa Valenzuela City noong Mayo 2015, na 72 manggagawa ang namatay.
Ayon sa IOHSAD, dapat managot ang DoLE at DILG sa trahedya sa Kentex factory dahil nagpabaya umano sa tungkulin ang nabanggit na mga ahensiya ng gobyerno.
“The Labor Department clearly failed in its responsibility to enforce OSH standards when it’s authorized Labor Laws Compliance Officer (LLCO) and regional office director to issue a certificate of compliance to the Kentex manufacturing eight months before the tragic fire that killed more than 72 workers. Labor Secretary Baldoz, DoLE-NCR Director Avila and LLCO Engr. Joseph Vedasto should all be held liable to the death of the workers,” pahayag ni Nadia De Leon, advocacy officer ng IOHSAD.
Aniya, ang Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), na nasa ilalim ng DILG, ay tumangging magbigay ng fire clearance sa Kentex noong 2014 dahil sa paglabag sa Fire Safety Code.

Dahil sa hindi pagsasama sa mga opisyal ng DoLE at DILG sa inihaing kaso sa Ombudsman, hindi maaalis ang pangamba na may pinapanigan ang Ombudsman sa insidente.
Una nang kinasuhan ng Ombudsman si Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian sa Kentex fire dahil sa ibinigay nitong business permit sa pabrika at may inilabas na ring arrest warrant laban sa alkalde. (Jun Fabon)
