Na-hack ang twitter account ng Public Information Office (PIO) ng Pasig City government nitong Sabado ng gabi, ilang oras matapos ang pagdaraos ng grand campaign rally ni Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto at ng kanyang grupo.
Nabatid na pasado alas-10:00 ng gabi, pinalitan ng hacker ang pangalan ng Twitter page ng Pasig PIO ng ‘Pasig.eth,’ habang ang bio o deskripsyon ng account ay pinalitan din at ginawang ‘co-founder of @AzukiOfficial… former character art director for @playOverwatch. Pixel art enthusiast.’
Nag-tweet din ang hacker ng mga katagang, “Shh Secret Airdrop.. For the next 24 hours we are airdropping Beanz to all active NFT traders in the community!”
“The Beanz will no longer be claimable after they have all been airdropped. Good Luck! #AzukiLove. Welcome To The Garden,” dagdag pa nito.

Malaunan ay pinalitan muli ang Twitter page ng pangalang “.” at nagpadala ng mga spam tweets, kung saan nag-tagged pa ng mga random users sa naturang social media platform.
Sa isang pahayag naman nitong Linggo, kinumpirma ng Pasig PIO ang naturang hacking incident at kaagad na humingi ng paumanhin sa mga taong naperwisyo nito.
Ayon sa Pasig PIO, dakong alas-10:00 ng gabi ng Sabado nang maganap ang insidente at muli umano nilang nabawi ang kontrol sa kanilang Twitter account ganap na alas-7:30 ng umaga nitong Linggo.
“The Pasig City Public Information Office Twitter Account, with the hande @PasigInfo was hacked at around 10:00PM on Saturday, April 9, 2022, which led to the tagging of thousands of Twitter accounts into a tweet containing a promo from @AzukiOfficial.
“We apologize to the owners of the Twitter accounts who have been tagged to the aforementioned tweet and to everyone who has been inconvenienced due to this hacking incident,” anito pa.
“We regained access to the account around 07:30AM today April 10, 2022. While we were able to retrieve the access to the account, we are still working on cleaning it up, specifically deleting thousands of tweets made by the hacker,” dagdag pa nito.
Pinasalamatan rin naman ng lokal na pamahalaan ang lahat ng taong tumulong sa kanila, lalo na yaong kaagad na nagbigay ng impormasyon hinggil sa hacking incident.
Pinasalamatan rin nito si Sel Salvador ng @TwitterGov dahil sa mabilis na pag-aksiyon para mabawi muli ang access sa kanilang account.
“The City Government of Pasig would like to thank everyone, especially those who are quick to flag that the account has been hacked. The City likewise extends its gratitude to Ms. Sel Salvador of @TwitterGov for the quick resolution of our request to regain access to our account,” anang Pasig PIO.
“Moving forward, the Pasig City PIO has instituted mechanisms concerning the strict and limited access to this account to ensure that future hacking incidents such as this will be avoided,” pagtiyak pa nito.
Bago ang naturang hacking incident, ipinagdiwang ni Sotto ang “Araw ng Kagitingan” sa pamamagitan nang pagdaraos ng dalawang grand rallies sa Pasig kung saan sinuyo niya ang mga botante na suportahan ang kanyang “Giting ng Pasig” slate sa darating na halalan sa Mayo 9.
