Pinagtibay nina House Majority Leader at Leyte Rep. Martin G. Romuladez at Deputy Majority Leader at Pampanga Rep. Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo ang isang resolusyon na nagbigay papuri sa Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) matapos lagpasan ng 15 porsiyento ang target na koleksiyon sa taong 2020 sa kabila ng pagbagsak ng ekonomiya sanhi ng pandemyang dulot ng Covid-19.

Sa ilalim ng House Resolution No. 1538, pinapurihan nina Romualdez at Arroyo si BIR Commissioner Cesar R. Dulay at buong economic team ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa pangunguna ni Finance Sec. Carlos “Sonny” Dominguez sa ipinamalas na pagsusumikap na makabangon ang ekonomiya laban sa pandemya.

Umabot sa kabuuang P1.94 trilyon ang nakolekta ng BIR noong nakaraang taon na lagpas ng 15% ng target collection na P1.69 trilyon o katumbas ng P255.19 bilyon.

“The Bureau of Internal Revenue has exceeded its tax collection target for the Fiscal Year 2020 despite the crippling effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the national economy,” pahayag nina Romualdez at Arroyo.

Ang pagkakataon na nalagpasan ng BIR ang target collection nito ay 2001 at 2003.

“BIR Commissioner Caesar R. Dulay’s decisive leadership and together with the entire economic team of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, has steered the Bureau surpassed its fiscal target... despite the global health crises brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic,” ipinaliwanag ng dalawang mambabatas.

Sinabi nina Romualdez, chairman ng makapangyarihang House Committee on Rules, at Arroyo, chairman ng House Committee on Energy, na nagawa ng BIR ay dapat na maging “example for other public servants to emulate” at karapat-dapat sa pagkilala ng Kamara.
