Nais ni Senator Risa Hontiveros na ipatigil na ng gobyerno ang pagpapatupad ng Oplan Tokhang, na ayon sa kanya ay inabuso lamang at ginamit ng mga tiwaling opisyal ng pulisya.
Sa inihain niya kahapon na Senate Resolution 309, hiniling ni Hontiveros sa pamahalaan, partikular sa Philippine National Police (PNP), na suspindehin ang Oplan Tokhang dahil sa libu-libong pagkamatay, kabilang ang dinukot na Korean na si Jee Ick-joo, na pinatay sa loob mismo ng PNP headquarters sa Camp Crame, Quezon City.
“This will only result in more suffering and needless death for our countrymen. Oplan Tokhang has been used by corrupt and abusive policemen as a cover for, among other things, acts of extortion and murder,” ani Hontiveros.

“Our message remains the same. The drug problem is a public health issue and should be treated accordingly, using a variety of approaches. If experience of other nations that have implemented a punitive strategy against drug addiction can teach us anything, it is that these strategies do not work,” giit ni Hontiveros. (Leonel M.
