Umaasa at naniniwala pa rin si Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach na muling lalaban si dating pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr., at haharapin sa rematch si eight-division world titlist Manny Pacquiao sa unang bahagi ng taong 2016.

Sa panayam ni Lance Pugmire ng Los Angeles Times, iginiit ni Roach na mahirap balewalain ang rematch nina Mayweather at Pacquiao dahil bukod sa kikita nang malaki ang dalawang boksingero ay mawawasak ng Amerikano ang rekord na perpektong 49 panalo nila ni dating heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano.

“If Manny fights a good fighter [next], looks good, has no shoulder injury, I think Floyd Mayweather and him will go one more time,” giit ni Roach. “Too much money. … They’re not going to let that go, I feel.”

Sa kanilang laban noong Mayo 2, 2015 sa Las Vegas, Nevada, kumita si Mayweather ng $220 milyon samantalang may ulat na tumanggap si Pacquiao ng $150 milyon at inaasahang milyun-milyong dolyar din ang ibubulsa nila sa rematch.

Inamin naman ni Roach sa BoxingScene.com na hindi na niya dapat pinayagang matuloy ang laban ni Pacquiao kay Mayweather dahil batid niyang mahihirapan itong manalo sanhi ng napinsalang balikat na kaagad pinaoperahan matapos matalo ang Pinoy boxer sa puntos.

“I always regret [not pulling him out] that because I was one of the ones who wanted to cancel the fight because of the injuries, but everyone else thought that if it don’t happen now it would never happen and there was so much money involved and so forth,” pag-amin ni Roach. (Gilbert Espeña)
