Tinabla ni presiding officer Senator-Judge Chiz Escudero na isang Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated lang daw ang mga kumalat na larawan ng testigong si Lemuel Ortonio, kasalukuyang Assistant Secretary at Assistant Chief of Staff ng Office of the Vice President (OVP), na may suot umano itong “earpiece” habang umuusad ang impeachment trial.
Sa naging paglilinaw ni Escudero bago pa opisyal na magsimula ang ika-20 na araw ng Senate impeachment trial laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte nitong Martes, Setyembre 1, 2026, sinabi niyang lubhang kumalat daw ang naturang mga larawan ni Ortonio sa social media na inakala ng marami na may suot itong earpiece.
“Chair would like to issue a directive comm ruling with respect to what came out in the recent days and all last week. After Mr. Ortonio testified before this court, an image of him allegedly wearing an earpiece was widely circulated on the internet,” pagsisimula niya.
Ani Escudero, hindi raw iyon totoo at isa lang itong AI-generated photo, pero pinaalala niyang kinakailangan daw na magmula mismo sa kaalaman ng isang testigo ang kaniyang mga salaysay sa korte nang hindi naiimpluwensyahan o tinuturuan ng anomang panig o sinomang indibidwal.
“We take this opportunity after verification that it was an AI-generated image and simply false. The Chair wishes to remind and take this opportunity, the parties and every witness must testify nevertheless solely from his or her knowledge free from coaching or influence from counsel or any other person,” ‘ika niya.

Diin ni Escudero, isang front folded helix na hikaw lang umano ang suot ni Ortonio at hindi isang earpiece na ginagamit upang makipagkomunikasyon sa ibang mga indibidwal sa parehong sitwasyon o panahon.
“Hindi totoo ‘yong lumalabas na mga litrato na diumano merong earpiece si Mr. Ortonio. Iyon po ay AI. What he had was a front folded helix, an ear piercing in front folded helix to his ear. Not an earpiece,” pagtatapos pa niya.
Paglilinaw pa niya, nakasaad daw sa Section 21 (e) ng AM No. 24-11-02 ng Korte Suprema ang pagbabawal sa paggamit ng cellphone, tablet, at iba pang kahalintulad na device sa mga pagdinig o video conference.
Samantala, matatandaang natapos na ang pagtestigo ni Ortonio noon pang Agosto 26, 2026, habang kasalukuyan na ngayong tumuntong sa witness stand ang bagong testigo ng prosecution panel na si Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Col. Manaros Boransing II.
