Direktang kinuwestiyon ng private prosecutor na si Atty. Mae Divinagracia ang testigong si Lemuel Ortonio, kasalukuyang Assistant Secretary at Assistant Chief of Staff ng Office of the Vice President (OVP), sa mga posibleng “threat of cataclysmic proportion” laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Kaugnay ito sa naging paggasta umano ng OVP sa ₱125 milyong confidential funds sa loob ng 11 na araw mula Disyembre 20 hanggang Disyembre 31, 2022.
“Noong between December 20 and December 31, meron ba kayong narinig na threat of cataclysmic proportion, ibig sabihin meron ba kayong nadinig na mga banta na masyadong mapaminsala na kailangang sugpuin sa loob lamang ng 11 days?” urirat ng prosecutor kay Ortonio sa impeachment trial nitong Martes, Agosto 25, 2026.
Kontra naman ni Atty. Kristine Ferrer ng defense, “Question is vague and has no basis also.”
Paglilinaw ng presiding officer na si Senator-Judge Chiz Escudero kay Ortonio, “I presume it's a threat against the Vice President. May alam po ba kayo na… bantang mapaminsala, kakaibang banta laban sa Ikalawang Pangulo noong mga panahon na malapit sa December 20 to 31?”
‘In a way:’ Palasyo, naniniwalang may nagawa ang prosekusyon para i-convict umano si VP Sara
Saad ng naturang testigo, “I personally don’t know any information.”
Kinuwestiyon naman ni Divinagracia kung may nalaman ba raw na anomang banta si Ortonio sa buhay ni VP Sara nang humiling ito ng confidential funds noong 2022.
“When you requested confidential funds in 2022, ‘yong OVP po ba, meron nang natukoy na mga banta laban sa Vice President noong panahon ‘yon?” ‘ika niya.
Depensa ni Ortonio, “I cannot personally answer. Maybe that is a question that can be answered by the security group.”
Pahabol ng prosecutor, “But as far as you are concerned, are you aware of any identified threats against the Vice President or the office during that time?”
“I personally do not know,” ani Ortonio.
Pagpapatuloy naman ni Divinagracia, inusisa niya rin kung may nakipag-ugnayan si VP Sara o ang OVP sa mga awtoridad sa mga posibleng banta dito bago raw humiling ng confidential funds sina Ortonio noon.
“And before you requested confidential funds from the DBM, would you know if the Office of the Vice President coordinated with any law enforcement agency for possible threats against the Vice President and the office?” diin niya.
“In relation to possible threats to the Vice President, I would not have any information,” tugon naman ng testigo.
