Pinagmumulta ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) ang dating head coach ng Ateneo Blue Eagles men’s basketball team na si Coach Tab Baldwin ng halagang aabot sa ₱9,800,000.
Sa naging pagpapataw ng parusa ng DOLE nitong Martes, Agosto 11, 2026, idiniin nilang hindi raw nagkaroon ng Alien Employment Permit (AEP) si Baldwin magmula noong Disyembre 1, 2015, hanggang Setyembre 28, 2016.
“In this case, Mr. Baldwin was employed in Ateneo from 01 December, 2015, to 28 September, 2016. Thus, for engaging work for Ateneo without a valid AEP for at least nine full months. He is liable to pay ₱10,000,” pagsisimula ng DOLE.
Bukod sa AEP, bigo rin umano si Baldwin na magkaroon ng Certificate of Exemption mula Pebrero 10, 2025, hanggang sa magbitiw siya sa kaniyang trabaho bilang Head Coach the naturang awtoridad.
“For failure to secure Certificate of Exemption, Section 1 (C), in relation to Section 2, Rule 7, of DO 248-2025, provides that any delivery or willful disregard for non-compliance with the provisions of said rules shall be meted with the finality of fine and maximum amount of ₱10,000 for every prohibited act,” anila.

Dahil dito, dapat umanong magmulta si Baldwin ng mga halagang ₱4,900,000 para sa paglabag sa AEP sa loob ng siyam na buwan at ₱4,900,000 naman dahil sa kabiguan niya sa pagkakaroon ng Certificate of Exemption mula Pebrero 2025 hanggang nitong Hunyo 2026.
“Applying the maximum administrative fine of ₱10,000 for each prohibited act or separate violation spanning from 490 days, the total administrative fines is computed as follows. 490 days fines, ₱10,000 per day will equal ₱4,900,000,” anang DOLE.
“Accordingly, Mr. Baldwin is liable for an administrative fine with the total amount of ₱4,900,000 for his failure to secure the required Certificate of Exemption for a period from 10 February, 2025, until his resignation on 15 June, 2026,” pagtitiyak pa nila.
Sa kabila nito, nahaharap din ang Ateneo De Manila University sa pagmumulta ng ₱4,900,000 dahil sa pagbibigay ng trabaho kay Baldwin nang wala umanong kaukulang permit.
Matatandaang nasasangkot ang pangalan ni Baldwin sa naging pagkalunod ng dalawang student-athlete ng Ateneo Blue Eagles na sina Rene Clert Baterbonia at Divine Adili sa ikinasa nilang team building sa Dipaculao, Aurora, noong Hunyo 8, 2026.
