Inanunsyo ng Filoil EcoOil Sports nitong Linggo, Hunyo 14, ang pag-atras ng Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) sa pakikilahok sa mga nalalabi nilang tournament ngayong taon.

“The Executive Committee of the 19th Filoil Ecooil Preseason Cup has been informed of Ateneo de Manila University’s decision to withdraw from competing for the remainder of the tournament,” saad ng Filoil EcoOil Sports sa kanilang pahayag. 

Anila pa, ang desisyon ay kinumpirma rin sa athletic director ng ADMU na si Emmanuel Fernandez, kasunod ng trahedyang pagkasawi nina Rene Clert Baterbonia at Divine Adili noong Lunes, Hunyo 8. 

“Upon continuous discussions and as confirmed with the University's athletic director Mr. Emmanuel Fernandez, it was deemed appropriate to grant their request out of compassion following the tragic incident,” saad ng Filoil EcoOil Sports. 

Samantala, ipinapabatid din ng collegiate preseason tournament ang kanilang pakikiramay sa mga naulilang pamilya nina Baterbonia at Adili.

“The league continues to extend its heartfelt condolences to the families of the bereaved and to the community as we navigate these tough times,” pakikidalamhati ng Filoil EcoOil Sports.

Matatandaang naiulat ang pagpanaw nina Baterbonia at Adili noong Hunyo 8 dahil sa pagkalunod sa Dipaculao, Aurora.
