Kasunod na sinagot ng Bar topnotcher noong 2005 at PLDT Chief Legal Counsel na si Atty. Joan De Venecia-Fabul si dating Commission on Elections (Comelec) commissioner Atty. Rowena Guanzon.
Matatandaan kasing nauna nang sumagot si Atty. De Venecia-Fabul noong Abril 16, 2026, tungkol sa naging pagbida ni Vice President Sara Duterte sa grado ng kaniyang Bar exam upang pabulaanan ang akusasyon ni Ramil Madriaga.
Aniya, hindi raw nakakatulong ang tila pagdidiin ng naratibong ng 75, 80, o 85 na grado sa pagpasa sa Bar, dahil ang pasado raw ay pasado talaga.

Ayon naman sa naging Facebook post ni Atty. De Venecia-Fabul noong Linggo, Abril 19, makikita ang pag-screenshot niya sa post ni Atty. Guanzon tungkol sa nauna nang nabanggit na usapin.

“Hindi nga. Ang standard ko, when [you] are a lawyer and you did not render public service, hindi ka role model. Topping Bar is overrated,” saad ni Atty. Guanzon.
Sagot naman ni Atty. De Venecia-Fabul, gusto daw niyang pabulaanan ang nasaad ni Atty. Guanzon dahil nagtrabaho na raw siya sa publiko para sa gobyerno bilang abogado.
“Hi ma’am Bing Guanzon! Hindi ako maka-comment sa post ninyo but just wanted to let you know that I did work in government,” pagsisimula niya.
Paglalatag niya, nagserbisyo na raw siya noon bilang working law student sa Justice Teresita Dy-Liacco Flores of the Court of Appeals at kasunod naman sa ilalim ni dating Pag-IBIG Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at kasalukuyang SolGen Lelen Lim.
“First, under Justice Teresita Dy-Liacco Flores of the Court of Appeals (as a working law student), and next under then Pag-IBIG CEO and now SolGen Lelen Lim (as her head of Public Relations),” aniya.
Pagpapatuloy pa niya, “I am back in the private sector now, but still rendering public service to fellow lawyers with Abogadong Pinoy.”
Buwelta pa ni Atty. De Venecia-Fabul, nagtuturo din daw siya sa Public International Law sa Unibersidad ng Pilipinas (UP) simula pa noong 2015 at nakapagtrabaho na rin sa Korte Suprema.
“I have also been teaching Public International Law to UP Law students since 2015, and have worked for the Supreme Court in various capacities, such as examiner in Civil Law in the 2022 Bar under Justice Ben Caguioa, and recently as member of the Sub-Committee on the revision of the Code of Judicial Conduct under Justice Nette Singh. Cheers!” diin niya.
Anang abogado, naniniwala naman daw siyang “overrated” ang pagiging Bar topnotcher ngunit iyon na nga raw ang pinakang punto niya.
Saad niya, hindi mahalagang barometro ang grado sa Bar para masukat ang kakayahan, tagumpay, at integridad ng isang abogado.
“I agree that topping the Bar is overrated, which was the exact point I was trying to make - that Bar grades are not a reliable barometer of either competence, success, or integrity,” pagtatapos pa niya.
Samantala, habang sinusulat ito, wala pa namang inilalabas na pahayag, reaksyon, o tugon si Atty. Guanzon kaugnay rito.
