Makikinabang si Vice President Sara Duterte kapag nangyari ang umano'y assassination kay Pangulong Bongbong Marcos Jr., ayon sa Department of Justice (DOJ).

Sa isang press briefing nitong Lunes, Nobyembre 25, sinabi ni DOJ Usec. Hermogenes Andres na si Duterte ang "ultimate beneficiary" sakaling mangyari ang pagpatay kay Marcos.

"Please understand that if ever this threat of assassination actually happens or is accomplished, she [VP Sara] is the ultimate beneficiary. And we have to do everything to protect the President," ani Andres.

"Understandably, if such an event happens, who will benefit? She is the beneficiary of the death of the President. Her words have to be taken in the proper context. Previously, she made a declaration that the President's head should be cut off, pugutan ng ulo. And now, this is a more specific allegation on engaging an assassin to kill people including the president that is a very serious, serious action taken by the VP and we have to go to the process and seek accountability for this," dagdag pa ng opisyal.

Matatandaang noong Sabado, Nobyembre 23, nang sabihin ni Duterte na mayroon na raw siyang napagbilinang indibidwal na kung pinatay raw siya, papatayin naman umano nito si Marcos, at maging sina First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos at House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

Sa parehong press briefing, sinabi rin ng DOJ na itinuturing nilang "mastermind" si Duterte sa umano'y assassination plot laban sa pangulo.

Samantala, nakasaad sa Article 7 Section 8 ng Philippine Constitution na kapag namatay ang punong ehekutibo ng bansa, ang bise presidente ang siyang papalit sa puwesto nito. 

"In case of death, permanent disability, removal from office, or resignation of the President, the Vice-President shall become the President to serve the unexpired term. In case of death, permanent disability, removal from office, or resignation of both the President and Vice-President, the President of the Senate or, in case of his inability, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, shall then act as President until the President or Vice-President shall have been elected and qualified," mababasa sa Konstitusyon.
